Finishing Post’s Texas Scramble

The inaugural Finishing Post’s Texas Scramble social golf tournament teed off on Sunday morning, 11^th December 2010 at the Angkor Golf Resort and some solid performances were notched up, particularly considering that all players had put in heavy duty the previous night at the Finishing Post Networking party at the Sokha Angkor Resort.

Nearest the pin prizes went to Peter Brongers, who won a one year subscription to The Post and a complimentary stay in the Heritage Suites hotel.

Brendan O’ Driscoll won a two night stay at the Sokha Angkor Resort, and also free entry to the FCC Nations Cup to be held in February 2011.

Georges Ramorasata won a two night stay at the Sokha Hotel, Sihanoukville, and Etienne Lefort won a two night stay at the Independence Hotel, Sihanoukville.

Scott McNeil won dinner for two at Meric Restaurant in the Hotel de la Paix.

The winning team of the day comprised Brendan O’Driscoll, Luc Grobet, Alan Parkhouse and HS Manjunath. Each player won a dinner at Le Bistro at the Victoria Hotel.

Schedule:

Saturday 2nd October 2010 -Siem Reap Lake Resort   - 9am tee off
Sunday 3rd October 2010 - Phokeethra Country Club - 12pm tee off
Tuesday 5th October 2010 - Angkor Golf Resort         - 12pm tee off
Wednesday 6th October 2010 - Final round @ Phokeethra - 8am tee off

Tournament Information:

• Please arrive at the golf courses at minimum of 30 minutes before the tee time for registration.
• To be eligible to win the Tin Cup you must play all four rounds
• If you are not available to play all four rounds, you may play the ones of your choice.
• There will be prize ceremony after each round in the Club house for the days winners and a final prize ceremony after the final round to announce the Tin Cup champion..
• Flights of four (maximum) will be chosen by competition organiser and golf club management.
• Prizes are available for 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, Longest drive & Nearest the pin.
• Maximum of 4 golfers per flight.
• Scoring format: Team of 4 Medal play (best team NET score)
• Rental clubs & shoes are available but limited so first come first served!

Fee

Full Tin Cup 2010 Fee - $420 (x4 rounds of golf, caddies, buggies & buffet lunch for final day)

Phokeethra Country Club - $70 per round
Angkor Golf Resort          - $90 per round

TIN Cup Entry Fees (towards prizes for each event & overall TIN cup ceremony):

Less than 4 rounds - $10 per round

Food & Beverage

Food will be available at all golf clubs as per usual but there will be an official buffet lunch on the final day at Phokeethra Country club for $20 per pax.

Angkor Amateur Open 2010

Thailand based golfer; Scott Puzey won the 2010 Angkor Amateur Open at Siem Reap's; Angkor Golf Resort. Puzey shot a level par 72 on the immaculate Faldo designed course on the final day with an aggregate score of 149 to pip overnight leader Robin Briars by two shots.

Division B was a keenly contested battle with eventual winner HE Seng Chhay Our coming out on top.

Division C was more clear cut with HE Bin Chhin winning by 4 shots from nearest rival; Chea Sopheak.

Last years ladies runner up Lesley Saunderson avenged her narrow defeat by winning the 2010 division comfortably by 11 shots and also scooping the Nearest the Pin award

A hearty thanks must be given to Tiger Beer and Vittel water for providing the weekend's refreshments and Angkor Palace Resort for a wonderful Saturday nights entertainment.

Dates Set for Angkor Amateur Open 2010

After the success of the 2009 Angkor Amateur Open, Angkor Golf Resort has confirmed the dates for this year’s event as being Friday, 6th August - Sunday, 8th August 2010.

The 2009 Open saw golfers from eight different countries around Asia and Europe compete over the Faldo course. A strong representation saw half the field with a handicap index of 10 and below.

"I am delighted that we are continuing the Angkor Amateur Open and we are hopeful in attracting more golfers from new destinations. The first year is always the hardest but now we have a solid foundation to build on I feel confident that the 2010 Open will be even more enjoyable and exciting” Adam Robertson, Manager stated.

The format of the event will remain the same as last year comprising of a two round, system 36 handicap format combined score over the two days. There will be different handicap sections allowing a more keenly contested event in each division. There will also be a gross score section which will ultimately decide the overall Angkor Amateur Open winner of 2010.

“We managed to capture the attention of a good many golfers from around the world with the first ever Amateur International Open in Cambodia, this year we wish to surpass all expectations by adding something different to the event. Sokha Hotel Texas Scramble 2010

A strong team led by Colonel Lewis Coyle captured first prize in the Sokha Hotel Texas Scramble at the weekend


A remarkable birdie blitz on Angkor Golf Resort saw Coyle's team win by 6 shots from nearest rivals comprising of a strong team from Indonesia. Fired up by this Elizabeth Coyle went on to win nearest the
pin on second shot at the attractive par 4 fifth.

Angkor Golf Resort stalwart Georges Ramorasata a regular here captained a crack French team comprising of local golfers Vorana, Etienne and Paul Cheung coming in third place.
 

Wooden spoon honors went to the loquacious captain, Emmett McHenry and his team, excuses echoing in  the ears of all competitors that the "sponsor should not be seen winning" a rather meek excuse given the
performance by the captain himself!

A sumptious buffet dinner was enjoyed in fantastic surroundings at the beautiful Sokha Hotel.
